Structured products is a common generic name used for many types of financial instruments in the fixed income world. In the years prior to the global financial crisis in 2008 they were called, at various times, “synthetic CDOs,” “securitization squared,” “embedded derivatives” and even “financial weapons of mass destruction.” In the PRC, the most common name given to such financial instruments is “wealth management products.” These financial instruments are still prevalent in the financial world albeit perhaps under the guise of different nomenclature. The webinar has walked through the key components of these financial instruments, step by step, block by block, layer by layer. The attendee should thereafter be able to discern and recognize the key elements of structured products however they happen to be described or labelled.
