On 23 November 2019, Dentons China offices (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai) and Dentons Hong Kong co-organised the 2nd Greater Bay Area Legal Summit 2019. The summit was successfully held in Shenzhen, which attracted over 200 entrepreneurs, clients and industry players to attend.

This year, the theme is “Link to the Future”. We endeavor to link Dentons and our guests to a better future by exploring solutions to circumvent the hurdle of complicated legal systems in the Greater Bay Area. All the presentation and discussion topics in this summit were highly practical to our guests, which included cross-border dispute resolution, cross-border compliance, Investigations and white-collar crime, Chinese enterprises in US ITC337 actions, cross-border capital markets and investment and financing.

In the full-day summit, Hong Kong office managing partner Keith Brandt presented on “Anatomy of a Greater Bay Area Dispute”; partner Gordon Ng and two Shenzhen office partners discussed about “Cross-border Capital Markets”; partner Man Chiu Lee, associate Ningxin Sun and a Shenzhen office partner talked about “Offshore Bond Offerings by PRC Issuers”; partner Robert Rhoda led the presentation on “Hong Kong as Dispute Resolution Hub for Greater Bay Area”; of-counsel Desmond Lee gave a speech on “Cross-border Regulatory Investigation”; and associate James YP Wong and a Zhuhai partner deliberated about “Strategies for Effective Cross-border Dispute Resolution”.

Guest speakers including Professor Wang Zhenmin, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Research Centre of Tsinghua University and Professor Susan Finder, Distinguished Scholar in Residence of the School of Transnational Law of Peking University gave fruitful presentations on “Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area: Concept and Strategy” and “What Should Greater Bay Area Legal Professionals Know about Overseas Compliance?” respectively.
