Dentons Hong Kong has been recognised for its work at the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2020 and Asian-mena Counsel: Deals of the Year 2019. These recognitions have highlighted the capabilities of the Firm in a wide range of practice areas.
The Peoplefund P2P loan securitization won the Deal of the Year: Structured Finance and Securitisation at the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2020. Dentons Hong Kong represented Lending Ark Asia Secured Private Debt Fund and CLSA Capital Partners (HK) Limited in the structuring, negotiation and documentation of KRW-Linked Secured Fixed Rate Notes due 2021/2022 issued by Chicago Inc., a special purpose company established in Korea. This was the first-ever “securitization of P2P loans” out of Korea and likely all Asia. The transaction team was led by Hong Kong partner Jeff Chen.
In the same awards, the New World Holdings’ acquisition of FTLife Insurance was shortlisted under the M&A category. Dentons Hong Kong advised Tongchuangjiuding Investment Management Group Co., Ltd on its US$2.74 billion disposal of its 100% equity interest in FTLife Insurance Company Limited to NWS Holdings Limited, the infrastructure, logistics and transport services unit of conglomerate New World Development Limited. This transaction marked one of the largest insurance M&A deals ever in Hong Kong. Hong Kong partner Gordon Ng played key role in this transaction. The IFLR awards acknowledge legal innovation in cross-border transactions.
Asian-mena Counsel has also given honourable mention to the New World Holdings’ acquisition of FTLife Insurance at their Deals of the Year 2019. Asian-mena Counsel: Deals of the Year is a review of the top transactions and matters that closed during 2019.
