Jean is Of Counsel in Dentons' Litigation & Dispute Resolution group in Hong Kong.

Jean specializes in complex cross-border commercial litigation and arbitration and has substantial experience in handling shareholders' disputes, contractual disputes, landlord and tenancy disputes, construction disputes, cryptocurrency disputes and cyber fraud. She is also experienced in advising on both contentious and non-contentious data privacy matters. She often provides advice to multinational corporations, listed companies, PRC state-owned enterprises, tech companies, property developers, auction house and high net worth individuals.

Jean regularly represents clients at all levels of the Hong Kong Courts, including the Court of Appeal, High Court, District Court and Magistrates Court.

Jean is qualified as an attorney in New York state in 2013 and a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2014 and became an accredited mediator of HKMAAL in 2019. She was trained in Deacons and then spent six years at its dispute resolution department, specialising in commercial litigation. Prior to joining Dentons Hong Kong LLP, Jean was a member of the dispute resolution team of a leading offshore law firm which practises Cayman and BVI law, and had regularly acted for major corporations in Asia Pacific.

Jean is an author of legal articles and updates in Hong Kong Lawyer and Lexology.

In addition to her demanding career, Jean serves as a committee member on the Opera Hong Kong Education & Outreach Committee since 2017, and is dedicated to community service and cultural enrichment.

She is native in Cantonese and near native in Mandarin, and often provides legal advice in Chinese and was a speaker in various legal seminars in the Mainland China.

  • A construction company: Acting for PRC listed company and SOE in a high value complex HKIAC arbitration.
  • A multinational retailer: Acting for a multinational company in retail business in an ICC arbitration for disputes arising out of a joint venture agreement with its franchise partner.
  • A state-owned enterprise: Acting for a PRC SOE in a High Court action in relation to disputes arising from a share purchase agreement.
  • A PRC manufacturing company: Acting for the client in a successful application to register a PRC judgment in Hong Kong.
  • A PRC property developer: Acting for the client in an application to register and enforce a PRC judgment in Hong Kong.
  • High net-worth PRC individuals: Acting for the client in an application to register and enforce a PRC judgment in Hong Kong.
  • A jewellery company: Acting for the client in a High Court action in relation to disputes among its shareholders.
  • A listed company: Acting for the client in a high value fraud case concerning the misappropriation of company assets by a former employee.
  • A multinational tech company: Acting for the client in a High Court action to defend an employment claim from its former employee.
  • A bank: Acting for the client to defend a claim in relation to investment loss from its clients.
  • Various financial institutions and multinational corporations: Acting for various clients in relation to the recovery of mistaken payments due to cyber frauds and advised on retrieving the funds.

  • A high net-worth individual: Acting for the executrix of the estate of a high net-worth individual in a Hong Kong proceeding to recover beneficial title in a landed property.
  • A company: Acting for the client in a land resumption dispute against the Lands Department at a Lands Tribunal trial.
